Working for the CEO of a provincial district health authority, Gerry worked with a team of three consultants to conduct a healthcare review identifying improvements in the quality of service delivery while at the same time identifying cost reductions. Gerry’s role was to facilitate employee feedback including focus groups, consolidate
business cases for the resulting initiatives, lead the organizational redesign, and provide project management coaching for the senior management team. The analysis phase identified potential savings of over $4 million, and projects to save almost half of this were well underway when the consulting team finished their work.
The scope covered everything from organizational redesign, maintenance services, food services, surgical suite scheduling, purchasing, human resource management of overtime and callout, occupational health and safety, and the implementation of a “lean” program for Laboratory Services.
